Echoes Of Language delves into the symbolic meaning and cultural significance of the Native American Flute (NAF) while exploring its expressive power and parallels with spoken language and oracle systems.

It is my understanding that the NAF, is deeply connected to speech. Not just human speech but also the one that inhabits the secret language of wind, breath and birds. At the same time, due to its melodic nature, it has a close relationship with prosody and the musicality of language. Before we learned words and their meanings, we were embedded in the subtle world of nuanced sounds, vocal vibrations, hums and melodies.

The dynamics of human communication transcends speech, written words and linguistic meaning. It also operates in the realm of silence, metaphor, symbol, movement and modulated breath. These recordings take place in the real natural world, co-existing with other forms of language just like everyday communication.

During my personal exploration of the flute as a musical instrument, totem and mythical archetype, it became evident its relation to oracles. The oratory and ocular function of the oracle serves the purpose to, through language, offer a look, a perspective detached from previous meanings. It creates space for considering a renewed narrative and at the same time brings with it the language of augurs and the ruffling of feathers. It is the possibility of a new song.

Through them, you may find a place for consideration, meditation, enjoyment, possible answers and renewed stories. Fell free to step in with a question in mind or just the will to be present. At the same time, you'll be able to open space for a distinct language, a subtle idiom full of meaning to be unveiled.

At any point this project claims any kind of authority in talking about the Native American Flute. I do this with deep respect and mindful of its' cultural context. I don't present myself as an expert on the Native American Flute and its heritage. I offer this exploration from a place of openness and respect.

Echoes Of Language mergulha no significado simbólico e cultural da flauta nativa Americana, enquanto explora o seu potencial expressivo e os paralelos com a linguagem e sistemas de oráculo.

A flauta nativa Americana, está intimamente ligada à comunicação. Não só ao discurso humano mas também àquele que habita um tipo de linguagem que permeia a realidade. Ao mesmo tempo, pela sua natureza melódica, existe uma relação estreita com a prosódia e musicalidade da palavra dita. Antes de aprendermos vocábulos e respectivos significados, estamos inseridos no mundo subtil dos sons matizados, vibrações vocais, murmúrios, onomatopeias e melodias.

A dinâmica da comunicação humana transcende a oralidade, a escrita e a própria fisicalidade. Opera também no domínio do silêncio, do símbolo, do sopro, do movimento e da respiração modulada.

Durante a exploração pessoal da flauta como instrumento musical, totem e arquétipo mítico, tornou-se progressivamente evidente a sua relação com a função dos oráculos. A expressão oratória e ocular do oráculo serve o propósito de, através da linguagem, oferecer um olhar, uma perspectiva desligada de significados prévios. Cria espaço para considerar uma narrativa renovada e, ao mesmo tempo, traz consigo a linguagem dos augúrios e do agitar de penas. O oráculo propõe uma leitura alternativa.
